Celebrating Success 2024

Student and mentor
We held our annual Celebrating Success Dinner on Monday August 5th, which was attended by mentors, students, families, donors, college representatives, and local school leaders. Thank you to the more than 280 attendees who helped us launch the College Promise program for the 2024-25 academic year.

At this event, we welcomed our 14th Cohort of College Promise Scholars. These freshman recently began their high school experience at area high schools, and their mentors will be there to support them every step of the way.

We had the privilege to hear from former College Promise Board Chair, David Williamson, who spoke to the students about their bright future and how they will help to shape this community in the not-too-distant future. We remain indebted to David’s service during pivotal years of our organization, and I am grateful for his mentorship over the years.

We also were able to hear from Northmont High School and University of Dayton graduate Ifeanyi Nwanoro, who offered words of advice for those about to embark upon this journey. Ifeanyi spoke the important role of his mentor Mike Morton, who was there to support him that evening. His message was captivating, and despite being in the students’ position just several years ago, his wisdom certainly connected with those rising scholars.

Many thanks to all who made this a wonderful event. We are excited for a great start to the school year!
