We recently held our Montgomery County Ohio College Promise Scholar Night, which is geared toward College Promise juniors and their families and mentors. This year, the event was held at Wright State University, and we appreciate their willingness to host us, including the support of their staff who helped coordinate the details.

The College Promise Scholar Night is an opportunity for those students to begin exploring our College Promise partners and learn about the pathway to earn up to a bachelor’s degree. This is one of the greatest benefits of their participation in the program.

The evening began with a college fair, where our students were able to walk around and engage with each of our 18 partners in attendance. That’s right, we now have 18 partners! After the college fair, students and guests heard presentations that discussed the matriculation process from high school to college (and through the time of earning a degree).

Our key partner Bottom Line joined us to share more about their services to students in Ohio and, in particular, Montgomery County. College Promise students will benefit by taking part in their Access Program while in high school and Support Program once they graduate. In addition, Wright State University offered a student panel, featuring a few College Promise scholars now Raiders! The students shared more about their experience in college and the support they have received along the way.

Finally, the evening concluded with a presentation by College Promise staff about the scholarship. This was the first opportunity for students and families to learn more about how the scholarship works and steps they will need to take to make use of the award. We believe that the College Promise Scholar Night was an informative (and hopefully motivating) program. We look forward to working with our students every step of the way!
