Help a Student Like Kayleigh
Montgomery County Ohio College Promise recently completed the selection process for the 16th cohort of College Promise Scholars. These 55 students will be freshmen next year, and each scholar will be paired with a caring adult mentor, who they will meet with on a weekly basis throughout high school.
We look forward to matching each unique student with a mentor, who will guide them over the next four years, with the goal of each student earning a bachelor’s degree at little to no cost to their family.
One such student who was impacted by the program is Kayleigh Vanderpool, now a senior at the University of Dayton. Kayleigh is a Criminal Justice major with a Pre-Law concentration. She interned with the Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office and was able to work part-time at a criminal defense firm. She plans to attend law school in the fall.
Kayleigh said,
“I am very grateful for the Montgomery County College Promise Scholarship program for giving me the opportunity to pursue my academic goals and build a strong foundation for my future. During my time at the University of Dayton, I have thrived tremendously and created so many connections and memories on campus that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
We are currently recruiting volunteer mentors, so please apply on our website: https://mcocp.org/mentoring/. If this opportunity is not right for you, please pass this message along to others who might be interested.
Thank you for supporting our students!
