In Memoriam: John N. Taylor, Jr.

John TaylorIt is with great sadness that we share the passing of Montgomery County Ohio College Promise founder John N. Taylor, Jr. John and his wife Connie created College Promise out of the desire to help young people have an opportunity to attend college and be successful. John shared that he would not have been able to graduate and become a successful businessman if his family had not helped him pay for his education at Denison University.

The Taylors had witnessed the impact of college access programs in other communities, and they wanted to provide that opportunity to students locally. In 2010, John worked with philanthropic and educational leaders to launch this program, which was committed to providing mentorship and a college scholarship to deserving students. Thanks to generous financial contributions from the Taylors and other benefactors, Montgomery County Ohio College Promise was able to select and support 500 students over the next 10 years.

Thanks to John’s generosity and vision, College Promise has now provided this life-changing opportunity to over 750 students, with the expectation that the program will continue for many more years. This does not fully capture the collective impact felt by the surrounding community.

John leaves a legacy through Montgomery County Ohio College Promise, and his family remains involved in a variety of ways. His leadership and benevolence can be felt in many other areas, as is highlighted in his obituary: https://www.routsong.com/obituaries/john-taylor-jr

Please hold the Taylor family in your thoughts and prayers, as we recognize John’s lasting impact and celebrate his accomplishments over the years.
