New Montgomery County Ohio College Promise Staff
Montgomery County Ohio College Promise is excited to have hired two new staff members this school year.
Demarus Crawford-White is serving as the Montgomery County Ohio College Promise Student Support Specialist. In her role, Demarus works directly with prospective and current Montgomery County Ohio College Promise students. She provides wraparound support to College Promise scholars in high school, offering guidance and making appropriate referrals, to achieve specific learning outcomes. Demarus has a long history in higher education, working primarily in financial aid and student services. Throughout her career, helping students understand and avoid the pitfalls of unnecessary student loan debt has been an unwavering goal.

Dan Thaxton has served as a Montgomery County Ohio College Promise mentor and is the program’s Del Mar Encore Fellow. Del Mar Encore Fellows are recently retired professionals who are employed by The Dayton Foundation and placed with area nonprofits, called Host Organizations, to address significant community issues. In this role, Dan will be creating a strategy and systems for building relationships among area employers and others to establish sustainable pathways for recruiting College Promise mentors. Dan has communicated with all mentors previously, but feel free to share any ideas about where we might best recruit mentors for this and future years.
