Student Spotlight – Abigail Moore

Abigail Moore Abigail (Abbey) Moore is a 2018 graduate of Miamisburg High School and a current senior at the University of Dayton.  Abbey is a double major in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability with a concentration on Sustainable Watersheds.

Abbey always wanted to attend the University of Dayton, ever since passing by as a kid and seeing students walk to class.  She shared that due to her family’s financial situation, attending the University of Dayton was not likely a possibility.  Through College Promise the University of Dayton Flyer Promise Program, she was able to make that dream a reality.

Some of her best experiences in college were studying at Chaminade University of Honolulu, taking part in a summer hydrogeology field camp at Western Michigan University, and spending a considerable amount of time in nature doing hands-on learning.  After graduation, Abbey has been nominated for the USGS/NAGT Cooperative Summer Internship Program.  She also has an interest in being a field technician or working for the Environmental Protection Agency someday.

Along with all of the experiences this opportunity has afforded her, including making some lifelong fiends, Abbey shared that her mentor, Sharon Gottschlich, has supported her every step of the way.  We are excited to hear about all that Abbey accomplishes following graduation this spring.
