Student Spotlight: Ikeyaira Metcalf
Ikeyaira Metcalf is a Montgomery County Ohio College Promise Scholar. Ikeyaira graduated from Northmont High School in 2021. She then attended the University of Dayton, where she majored in Political Science and International Studies with a minor in Pre-Law. She graduated from UD in 2025 and is now pursuing a law degree.
Through a partnership between College Promise and the University of Dayton, Ikeyaira was able to participate in the Flyer Promise Program. In a University of Dayton Magazine article, she shared more about the impact of Flyer Promise, and, in particular, the role of her Success Coach, Bev Jenkins. Bev became more than a staff member to her, and their relationship felt more like family.
Ikeyaira took part in many opportunities available to her, including participating in the Honors Program. She also was a member of the Christian student society, Chi Alpha, where she served as a board member. She values the friendships she made there and still volunteers to support their current leaders today.
In reflecting back upon her experience, she said, “College Promise opened my eyes to the possibility of going to the University of Dayton and supported me in doing so. Without them, I don’t think I would have went to UD, which was one of the best decisions I made and helped me to be where I am today, pursuing a career in law.”
In pursuit of that dream, Ikeyaira is currently attending the University of Dayton School of Law. We wish her the best!
