Dear Friends,

Please find a quick update on Montgomery County Ohio College Promise. College Promise continues to provide economically disadvantaged students an opportunity to attend and graduate college at little-to-no cost to their families. More specifically, this past year we:

  • Celebrated 24 students earning a degree, bringing our total college graduates to 174.
  • Received a record number of applicants for the 2024 application period, allowing us to select 55 deserving scholars, who are attending 20 different high schools throughout the county.
  • Welcomed 55 highly qualified mentors, comprised of working professionals and retirees, to guide and support our new scholars.
  • Established a partnership with Bottom Line Ohio to help our scholars get into and through college and successfully launch a career.
  • Received a renewal grant from the Scarlet Feather Fund, helping underrepresented students from West-Dayton access college opportunities.
  • Transitioned our new mentor training to an online module for ease of completion. In doing so, we found other ways to connect with mentors, both at our new mentor luncheon and during quarterly mentor roundtables.
  • Continued meeting students where they are by holding social gatherings at schools for scholars and mentors.
  • Received new and recurring gifts from 58 individual donors, including 100% giving from our Board of Trustees.

Applications are open for our 15th cohort of College Promise Scholars, which we will select in February. We again seek community members to volunteer as new or returning mentors for the next academic year: Become a Mentor. College Promise remains a proud partner of 14 regional colleges and universities, offering diverse postsecondary opportunities for our graduates.

We are able to continue our mission with sponsorship from our many stakeholders in the community. Stay tuned for a mailer highlighting the impact of our work and more details about our Annual Campaign, providing core support that allows us to extend our efforts into the future.

Thank you for helping us transform the lives of young people in our community!
