Happy New Year from College Promise

MCOCP Students - Group photoOn behalf of Montgomery County Ohio College Promise, Happy New Year!

We recently wrapped up our annual Helping Students Thrive Campaign, which generated $116,937, meaning we met our goal!  This campaign provides core operating support for College Promise, ultimately helping us extend the program into the future.  Thank you for continuing to believe in our mission and its impact in the greater community!

In mid-November, we received applications from 215 promising 8th graders, who are being considered for our 15th Cohort of College Promise, which we will select in February.  We have closely reviewed the applications and have invited a number of students in for an interview, which will take place throughout this coming month.  Once the process is complete, we intend to select 58 deserving students as our next group of College Promise Scholars.  We are again grateful to the Scarlet Feather Fund for helping us target historically underrepresented students from West Dayton in our selection process.

Our current students are wrapping up a much-deserved break and are looking forward to a successful second half of the school year.  The 47 seniors in our program will spend the remainder of their time in high school completing their studies and making some final decisions about college (if they have not already).  We are excited to see where they ultimately choose to attend and are grateful to our 14 partner colleges for providing a clear path for them to earn a college degree at little to no cost to their families.

We are excited for another successful year ahead.  Mostly, we want to thank you for your ongoing support.  We wouldn’t exist without the dedication of parents and families, donors, mentors, school staff, college student personnel, and community leaders.  Thank you for being such strong advocates of our work.

Wishing you a great 2025!
